Zoë Johnston
Zoë Johnston has collaborated with a number of successful solo artists & bands. Her style is warm and distinctive, as is her song-writing. As both a writer and performer she has received high acclaim, and is celebrated for her unique delivery of original and powerful lyrics. Having enjoyed the challenges of working on various different musical projects, it's now time for her to introduce her own music to the world.
Zoë began her song writing career whilst living in Nottingham. She became involved in the expanding musical community there, working first with Neon Heights and later with Bent. Her work with Bent was to mark her arrival as an authentic artist onto a cliché-ridden music scene. Zoë wrote two songs for the critically acclaimed Bent album "Programmed To Love" - the haunting 'Private Road' (most recently adopted by Carling for it's "if it were a bank" TV commercial) as well as Bent's biggest single success, the beautiful and exquisite 'Swollen'. The latter was remixed by Rollo from Faithless, who thought Bent had sampled an old classic vocal for the track. As soon as he realised the voice was Zoë's, Rollo invited her to sing on a track for the new Faithless album 'Outrospective'. She eventually sang on 3 of the tracks on this million selling album and went on to tour internationally with the band for eighteen months. From Auckland to Warsaw, Zoë earned her spurs with a band known as the biggest and best live dance act in the world. The tour ended 6 months ago and since then Zoë has been focusing on her own song writing, intercut with three collaborations: 'Poems' with Paul Heaton (Beautiful South) for his solo album, 'Love' with Canadian dance/chill-out artists Delerium (Chimera album), and UK dance outfit Above & Beyond. Zoë Johnston has original style as well as an incredibly distinctive voice. Consequently she has what every artist craves - a unique sound.
